About Us
ABOUT US
The world is full of puzzles that refuse to sit still. Neighbourhoods in cities are under strain from all sides. Education, learning and jobs are disjointed. Value chains that combine economy and ecology are not widespread. These puzzles do not have neat solutions.
They are wicked problems – messy, interconnected, and deeply human.
Socratus Foundation exists to engage with this 'wicked'-ness. On Ground.
The wisdom we need to respond is among all of us. Can we bring it out for everyone to make sense together and act in alignment.
WHY SOCRATUS ON GROUND EXISTS
Because only ecosystems can respond to wicked problems
Wicked problems do not belong to a single sector, discipline, or institution. They emerge at intersections - and they evolve over time. Attempting to "solve" them often leads to shallow fixes and deeper fractures.
At Socratus, we choose a different word: respond. Responding recognises complexity. It asks for patience, plurality, and trust.
We believe the capacity to respond exists within communities with ownership of the place and other invested actors and institutions- and it needs to be surfaced, connected, and held with care.

The Socratus Foundation team is composed of sensemakers, stewards and storytellers - and we draw strength from our allies - field practitioners and domain specialists.
We are constantly looking to work with those who are curious, grounded, and willing to sit with complexity. People who seek confidence to act through conviction on values and clarity of thought.
Places
Our work is grounded in ‘place’ be it neighbourhoods within a city or regions within a state.
We listen to each geography as it reveals its own constraints, capacities, and possibilities.
By treating the place as a teacher, we learn what it actually takes to live well, together.
The world needs new ways of listening, questioning and being together.
Let's start a conversation.
