About Us
ABOUT US
The world is full of problems that refuse to sit still. Climate change. Cities under strain. Fractured livelihoods. These are not puzzles that have neat solutions.
They are wicked problems – messy, interconnected, and deeply human.
Socratus On Ground exists to engage with this 'wicked'ness. The wisdom we need is already among all of us. We bring it out for everyone to hear it and act.
WHY SOCRATUS ON GROUND EXISTS
Because only ecosystems can respond to wicked problems
Wicked problems do not belong to a single sector, discipline, or institution. They emerge at the intersection of state, market, and society - and they evolve over time. Attempting to "solve" them often leads to shallow fixes and deeper fractures.
At Socratus, we choose a different word: respond. Responding recognises complexity. It asks for patience, plurality, and trust.
We believe the capacity to respond already exists within communities, institutions, and lived experience - but it must be surfaced, connected, and held with care.

Who we are

Socratus is a team of practitioners, scholars, designers, and facilitators - but our real strength lies in the partners, communities, and allies we work alongside.
We collaborate with people who are curious, grounded, and willing to sit with complexity. People who believe that the future is not delivered - it is co-created.
Where we work
Our work is grounded in real places-wards, cities, coastal belts, rural and tribal landscapes.
From migrant worker juries to climate citizenship in wards, from flourishing cities to situated economies in Odisha, we use place as a teacher. Each geography reveals its own constraints, capacities, and possibilities.
By staying rooted, we learn what it actually takes to live well together.
The world needs new ways of listening, questioning and being together.
Let's start a conversation.
